AT&T offers BlackBerry outage rebates

If anyone is still mentally recouping from the major BlackBerry outage a couple days ago, you might have a friend in your corner. Well, not so much so don’t get excited. AT&T is offering a $2.50 credit to customers that are calling in and complaining about the service interruption. Yes people, $2.50. What do they think that we’re Sidekick users? Last time I checked BlackBerry users were professionals handling real business situations. I highly doubt that $2 is going to ease Mr. Wall Street’s mind when he’s about to go to sleep after dealing with a day of chaos because RIM decided to let interns handle their NOC. Step it up guys. it would have been better to not offer anything at all, rather than try and play mind tricks on us while insulting our intelligence.

I used to work as a customer service rep for a cable company and the whole point of offering reimbursement for the service interruption is to remind the customer how little they actually pay for an hour or day of service. I think even Mr. Wall Street would appreciate the fact that for as much as he uses and relies on the service, he’s not really paying all that much for it.

So you’re blaming AT&T for not doing enough when you obviously put the blame on RIM, as it had NOTHING to do with the carriers? Looks like AT&T is just reimbursing for a day and a half of outage, even though it wasn’t at fault here…
You have to give it to AT&T for offering this credit. That is something that I do not see any other carrier doing. I agree with Jeff and Betty, be appreciative of the fact that they are giving something back for something that was not their fault. I applaud AT&T for their effort!
a friend of mine got a month’s service credit due to the outage
If it goes to corporations who supply their employees with phones and service this could amount to quite a bit of money. I give AT&T credit for doing this. Kudos AT&T. Wish T-Mobile would have the guts to do it also.
