It looks like our boys in pink are getting ready to launch the BlackBerry 8800 in a few days. Three 8800 images have appeared on T-Mobile’s website finally, and you can bet your bottom dollar they’re sportin’ MyFaves! It doesn’t look like the BlackBerry 8800 is listed in the general phone section but, I wouldn’t let that crush your dreams of having the 8800 on Monday. Wait, what am I talking about? Any true BlackBerry addict would have bought a Cingular unit, and promptly unlocked it, right guys?
Thanks, Jon!

I’m a little sleuthing mofo, what can I say.
It’s actually funny that T-Mobile has this “up” on it’s servers. They done it before I think.

oh, not to troll. I wanted to mention I posted something in the VT thread about tomorrow being a wear VT colors day, in remembrance.

recycledblinds, well done.
Now, prize for anyone who can decipher the silly URL schema TMO uses for the device id.

Sleuthing mofo? I think not Jon. Someone else beat you to it in the comments on a previous post, already…

At least give credit where credit is due.

Ah, I didn’t see that, honest. I stand by my sleuth statement, I just didn’t know someone beat me to it. (Jaron Brass @ Apr 19, 2007 @ 12:25 am, for the record). I’ve been hitting the TMO site everyday now @ night for those images.
Well, I would then say, I was the first to report it to Boy Genius, via proper channels maybe…
Who knows, who cares. Let’s just celebrate the arrival of the 8800 on T-Mobile, and move forward.

8800? Nope. I’m waiting for the 8320! The WiFi addition will be great, especially in areas where I care more about data than I do about voice. (Like my office.) I did spend a few minutes with a Cingular 8800 and it is a beautiful device. For some reason (and I can’t say yes or no either way), the 8320 looks more “rugged” than the 8800.
Ruggedness isn’t a huge concern though I’ve been through several Pearls that have scratched, had parts come loose (the sides especially) and so on. My old 8700 has been drop kicked, splashed, stepped on and more — and it still looks brand new.
We’ll see.
Any other info from BG about the 83xx on T-Mobile and that May 7 rumor?

So is a wifi variant of the 8800 due out for any carrier soon?

Gah, I am so itching to buy a new BB… I have had my 7105t for over a year, and have held back somehow through the Pearl and the Cingy 8800. Finally, the 8800 on T-mo. But I won’t buy it.
As soon as I heard of the T-mo VOIP WiFi thing ( http://www.theonlyphoneyouneed.com/ ) I committed myself to waiting for a capable phone. Due to the fact that I spend 60+ hours a week at work, and have nearly NO cell reception in the building, placing a hotspot in the office and getting perfect reception would be amazing.
Here’s hoping the 83XX series shows up soon, and man, it had better have WiFi, because this Blackberry craving won’t go away!

yup there is one price point (via gizmodo)
http://www.mobiledia.com/phones/rim/blackberry-8800.html
249.99
the site claims this to be for both att and tmo but if you click buy, you can only order a att one, however there is another discount available for the att 8800, bringing it’s price point down to 149.99.
So call your tmo rep on monday and see if you can get some price matching going on

From what I’ve been reading, the 8300 is not far behind. Does anyone know how the 8800 will compare in terms of price with the 8300 series? Specifically the one with gps.
Thanks

TBG, is the 8800 or 8300 going to have auto update of the timezone using the network time?
Is there a processor difference between the 8800 and 8300 series?
Thanks!

Called T-Mobile B2B support. It’s confirmed that there is a HUGE backorder and that no one even has a clue as to when the next shipment of 8800’s will come in. ARGH!!!
Anyone know of anything I can say to T-Mo’s reps so that I can order this thing? I’m itching for an upgrade
