I have an h6315 and was going to get an 8800 to downgrade (even though T-Mobile considers it an upgrade..go figure!!)…but what is the point if it doesn’t have Wi-fi? I’m waiting for Wi-fi!! I don’t know if their putting out the alleged 8820 or not (I pray to GOD they do!!!). What’s the point of putting out the 8300 if it’s a Pearl with a QWERTY keyboard?!! Not a real improvement if you ask me!!! I can live without a camera. GPS is nice but I don’t plan on getting lost! If I’ve got to sacrifice the functionality of a (FULL) PDA for reliability,…it BETTER AT LEAST have WI-FI!!!! YEESH!!!

I agree with MoMo and that is why I’m hoping that TMO really will release the 8320 following the 8800 – 8800 4/23 for the business customer (and those with a no cam policy); 8320 5/7 for the consumer (and business peeps without a no cam policy). Could suggest why no retail stores will initially have the 8800…

uses for wifi: being able to send/receive emails via wifi when you are not in range for cell service. (ex. in the basement of an office building or other less than ideal cell coverage areas.)

The Blackberry Enterprise Server compresses websites as well, so there would not be a noticeable increase in speed either.

Not sure if people not on the BES get those compression features.

Well, I think you need to realize that the 8820 and the 8320 are initially geared for different consumers. The 8800 is geared more for the business consumer that can’t have a camera at the work place and the 8300 for the consumers that don’t have the no-camera policy enforced for work. Or possibly for the non-business retail minded consumers.

I w/T-Mo and couldn’t wait for 8800. Bought an unlocked one for $600. By way of background, I’ve had 7290 and most recently both the Pearl and 8700. 8800 was great style-wise and I loved the Pearl-like functionality. BUT, THE KEYBOARD ABSOLUTELY SUCKS! I sold it for $300 after 1 week. The 8320 looks like it has a better keyboard.

The ONLY reason you would want wifi is for the new thing T-Mobile will be launching where you can make calls form your home via that special router and not use the cell network.

Otherwise.. there is ABSOLUTELY no reason for wifi.. the Blackberry compresses data before it’s sent to the phone.. so it is pretty much immediate anyway.

Can BG or anyone in the know address the rumor that the 8320 will launch following the 8800 on May 7th? It doesn’t seem like TMO would really launch the 8800 and then 14 days later bring out the far superior 8320. BUT 14 days is TMO’s trial period Perhaps that hints at something…

8320 isn’t until May 7th. My understanding is that it will be available at Stores, and online. Whereas the 8800 is online and customer support only to start, then business channels.

Nice! I was thinking I’d want the 8320. But the more I think about it, I prefer the 8800. I have a decent personal phone, so I don’t need all the B’s & W’s of a camera, etc. This a great corporate edition!
