i-mate JAQ: Will it freeze?

We here at BGR are big fans of the series, "Will it blend?". Because we are big fans we have decided to do a variation of it, but in our own sick and twisted way. Will it freeze and survive? That’s the question, and some devices will hold up much better than others. Watch as we put the i-mate JAQ through the vigorous test and find out what happens!

As a regular visitor of this site, I have to honestly say that is the DUMBEST thing that I have ever seen. From an information standpoint, this site is spectacular. Please do not ruin it by becoming the next JACKASS ripoff.

I was surprised that it survived the dunking and the first few hours in the freezer.

Now there are some problems here… the frozen battery shouldn’t discharge fast enough to power the device out of the freezer. Perhaps you should let the device thaw a few hours too.

Additionally water “swells” when frozen. That’s why bottles shatter in the freezer. Water in the case would expand and perhaps break electronic circuits. So it may not be water or damage from the freezing, but damage caused due to the forces the freezing water placed upon the internals.

    Still, fun though!

If you are going to persist in doing these videos (which will eventually hurt your reputation) at least have someone else hold the camera, keep your comments succinct as we don’t need to keep hearing the same thing over and over and over again. Stick to being the new king of info. These things are childish.

I thought the narration & the obvious voice disguising was a little corny. The “ominous” music was hilarious, though.

However, I was disappointed at the end - I was expecting you to freeze it into a solid block of ice, then slam it to the ground to see if the whole thing would shatter. THAT would have been neato.

this kind of thing is just peurile and nauseating, next time you want to waste huge amounts of money (and no matter what you think of the value of that device it is a huge amount of money in Darfur for instance) just send me the device and I’ll flog it on eBay and donate the proceeds to charity.

sickening and very very stupid why dilute your reputation with this kind of rubbish?

    Hello,

I know this isn’t entirely related to your post, but I see you have submerged a phone in water, so I thought I would ask your opinion.

I am a world famous skin diver. In August, I will be diving off the coast of Australia as part of a TV special. I need to be in constant contact with my production crew, so I currently use a Blackberry.

My Blackberry, of course, survives being in the water, however, I find it uncomfortable to clench between my butt cheeks while diving.

Is the iMate more crack-friendly? I need a phone that can comfortably rest between my buttocks but still provide a QWERTY layout.

    Thanks for your time.

Possibly the worst production values out of any video that I have ever seen. My 5 year old cousin makes better videos with his VHS camera that he can barely pick up. It gave me a headache. I had to look away. Talk about disappointing.

What a FREAKING LONG video for what they’re trying to show. At least the Will it Blend videos get to the point in 30 seconds.

Yeah, at least “will it blend” doesn’t take four long, boring minutes to finish. Nor does “will it blend” add a barrage of snore-inducing comments.

I’ve heard of this thing called “video editing”. Apparently they haven’t.

And what’s with the voice modification? Is this guy afraid the FCC is going to punish him for trashing his personal property?
