BlackBerry AIM, Live Messenger, and ICQ clients released

We’ve been yelling for it for a while now, and it looks as if RIM might be on track to release these clients very soon. You’re able to download the actual software now, but as the case with the Yahoo IM! and GoogleTalk clients, they are service book dependant and as of now, no carrier has started rolling out these IM service books. Browse to the links below from your BlackBerry to start downloading the software!

AIM: http://www.blackberry.com/aim

Windows Live Messenger: http://www.blackberry.com/livemessenger

ICQ: http://www.blackberry.com/icq

[Via BlackBerryForums]

UPDATE: Click here to download a .zip file with the correct service books, you will need to erase your current service books, and restore it with this file.

Jivetalk not being free is not an issue but security is.

When I got up this morning I found my trial had run out. That isn’t a problem, I expected it and was planning on buying a copy. How they bumped me off the system is a problem as they used my login and password to login from their so yahoo would bump my phone connection off.

Think about it. They capture your login and password and apparently log that information for sometime since I had been logged into yahoo for days. They would logically have access to any saved data on that account and messages in transit too. Is it worth it? Not to me it isn’t, not even if it was free. Stay away from jivetalk if you value security.

ALSO, KEEP IN MIND THAT I’VE TRIED EQO (TRASH), RAMBLE (DOESN’T CONNECT), MIGG33 (DOESN’T CONNECT), BEEJIVE ( BEEJIVE IS AWESOME, MY ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT IT ISN’T FREE), EBUDDY (TOO SLOW – TRASH), AND THE HORRIBLE VERIZON MOBILE IM (DEF. TRASH). FYI, I HAVE A VERIZON BLACKBERRY CURVE 8330. GOING TO THE WEBSITE I PREVIOUSLY SUPPLIED AND EMAILING YOURSELF THE LINK IS THE ONLY WAY THIS WILL WORK, CONNECTING YOUR BLACKBERRY VIA USB WILL GENERATE ERRORS LIKE ALL OTHER WAYS. EMAIL AND YOU WON’T REGRET IT !!!
