Windows Live Search for BlackBerry launches

I’ve been trying out the beta version of Windows Live Search for BlackBerry for almost a week now, so it’s great to see that Microsoft has gone ahead and "launched" it as many BlackBerry users have requested it. While using the software I found the menus slow, and sometimes unresponsive but lets not forget this is a public "beta". You get the usual Microsoft Live Mobile Search features like searching by Categories, Maps & Addresses, Traffic, Directions and the like. As of right now, I’d stick to InfoSpace Find It!, or Google Maps (love the traffic mapping!), but as time goes on it is definitely something to watch out for. You can now download the software at wls.live.com from your BlackBerry devices.

The industry is getting more and more competitive so we can only expect that it will come to full blown applications running of for free for everyone. If not that at least inexpensive one that actually function well.

The Pearl version is pretty zippy, more so than the Y!Go app. These menus are far from sluggish. While I’ll keep it, I don’t think it’ll replace Google Maps, Telenav GPS, or Berry411 (um, Beyond411) anytime soon.

    But it does look nice.

Until Microsoft allows you to check your hotmail/live email account from a blackberry (or any email client), I would stay as far away from anything Microsoft.

I agree with Charles, until they allow integration of the last of the big 3 free emails, it hasn’t done much.

going through the browser to get to your email is a pain.

It does work on the 8320 curve, just loaded it.

Seems to work well, I’ll give it some real world use before I pass judgement on it.

    Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately this will not work. M$ does not let you forward to any email domain unless it’s a msn, hotmail, live, etc account. I tried this with my new BB Curve 8830. I still CAN NOT get my hotmail delivered to my handset….yet I can send out email. Supposedly this will be fixed as of June 30th but knowing Microsoft and the crooks they are, I doubt it…..

I can access both Hotmail and Live from my AT&T Blackberry Bold by adding them to my BIS account. I’m not sure why you guys can’t.
