All in One Devices just Don’t Work. I Personally Need a Shuffle for the Workout, a Phone with Voice Dial & then something for IM or Text. I Kept my Moto & Went with a Sony Mylo. No Contract, Web Browser, Hot Spot Locater, Skype Phone Service & its Basically the Same Unit as the Ocean Save the GPS & Connection Speed.

You can watch youtube videos on the Ocean for sure! I also just found out that right now Helio is offering unlimited everything for $99 a month. And I saw that http://www.HelloHelio.net is selling the Ocean for $195. Pretty nice.

I ordered Helio’s Ocean and have been using it for about 4 days now and I gotta tell you, its a good phone but there are issues. Hopefully they can tweak the software and fine tune the users experience.

The phone has a simple interface UNTILL you use the web browser. It is beyond confusing as to how to get to some of their touted features. The browser needs better forward and back page buttons. It has a back button but needs a forward. The video stream link section forces you to scroll through pages of video clips you are not even interested in just to get to the ones you want. It would be nice if they grouped the videos by show names first and then list each episode. The main web page isn’t customizable so you cant just quick pick the sites you use daily. You are forced to save them through a bookmark listing in a menu. Very annoying considering how much clicking it takes to navigate web pages.

Integration of media The phone has a nice camera and the ability to snatch images off websites. The audio player is surprisingly loud and clear. The problem starts when you want to use this media in say contact cards or use a song as a ring tone. Either the steps needed are just too complex to do, or the software isn’t sufficient in assisting the user in making it happen.

Like I said the phone is good but the software needs work. The phone’s software should make it simple to add an image from the web to a contact card, or wallpaper, or to select a song as a ring tone. They need to make the phone work for the user instead of the user working for the phone.

I have had Helio service for about 4 months now and think it’s great. Just as good as the T-Mobile I left behind. And living in a new area the A-GPS rocks. It loads a little slow on the apps, but the location is spot on, so I can wait the 30 sec to get it up and running. Can’t wait to get an Ocean for the Qwerty though, it’s a pain to type in locations without it since I’m not 13 and texting every second I get, lol.

i had a Helio Hero (still do I think) that was given to me for free with a few months of free service for a promotional thing. I was pretty unhappy with it. I can’t really speak to the service/coverage because i used it so rarely for calls. it was just completely impractical. it was way too large and bulky considering its capabilities. the keypad was uncomfortable. 3G dropped every time i tried to access the web. AIM did work well, and the camera was good. it struck me more as a gaming phone for younger kids; the graphics were good i guess, and for many of the games you had to turn the phone horizontally (with the clam shell closed) and play it like a gameboy. However, it seems that the Ocean improves a lot on the Hero. If all the reported capabilities work well, I could see this phone in the hands of a lot of high schoolers who want the functions without having to spend $500 on an iPhone.

Curious?? What experiences has anyone had with Helio?? I don’t know anyone that uses them but the maps show pretty good service in my area.
