it installed just fine and booted. I notice that the boot take quite a bit longer with the new ROMs but I guess it’s worth it. Yep, it works just got up. version reports i607UCGF1. going to test a call. wow wm6 is quite a bit faster than wm5. Well the bottom line is it works I am happy to try it out.

Just got off the phone with AT&T Level 2 Technical Support. They advised me to look to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/6/ for updates on upgrade availability.

When I advised the representative that this site is not a good source of information as it does not even list the Cingular 8525 upgrade which is available, he advised that there was no further information available at this time and that they were working in conjunction with the phone manufacturer to obtain this update.

I guess that it is time to flood both Samsung and AT&T with email requests for a difinitive date as telephonically you will just get BS’ed.
Or mabye we should all just switch to Verizon or Sprint as they know how to keep up with today’s constantly changing technology.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I thought everyone would like to know this informaiton.

when the hell is Samsung going to start competing again? Moto has a new Q, Palm has a new palm on windows mobile 6.0. No Blackjack? Are they quitting? If they intend to stay in the business of smart devices for business-people, I recommend they leak some details about a new device rather soon. Otherwise, the massive upgrade cycle for WM 6.0 users is going to go to Palm and Moto.

Windows Mobile 5.0 sucked ass because it was so slow. This is why RIMM is kicking the crap out of Moto and Samsung and Nokia and SEricc.
So 6.0 is mega-important.

I still haven’t even heard if MS 6.0 is any good. Have you? Does it leave tons of applications open like the last devices?
Are there any developers making applications for this platform anymore? Or is everyone working too hard on iPhone and RIMM applications now?

After talking to Samsung support and listening to some wonderful hold music, I found out that they recently updated/changed their website and the SGH_i607_GB4_Rebranding_EMR.exe link was not correctly redirected and reactivated. So if you are seing the place where the link should be, you are in the correct place. Samsung should be fixing the problem but I was told there is no specific date as to when the link will be operational.

Yeah that darn pop up blocker got in the way. They mean it. You cannot download the final file without turning off the pop up blocker on your system.

The site clearly says that the upgrade will not work with Vista, does that mean if I applied the firmware upgrade from another XP computer, the phone would not be able to connect to my Vista PC?

I have been trying to make blackjack works in Brazil with TIM. I have been also following all the steps to download this up-date for roaming but i did not find the SGH_i607_GB4_Rebranding_EMR.exe file on my pc to run this up-date. could you please send or tell where this file is download in the installation. This is cirtical because i cannot use the phone – no signal – I am glad for your attention, kind regards. Jaime

I finally managed to get the updater… I ended up running Windows ME through VMWare Workstation without any firewalls or popup blockers. It works great; I’ve been messing as much as I can with my phone now without any hesitation because I can always return it to the way it was.

Deva, could you provide a direct link to the .zip file you are refering to. The only download I have found on that link you originally gave is for the Blackjack Modem Driver. I have unzipped it and installed the modem driver, but there were no other .zip files contained withing that .zip file.

Its in the original zip file you downloaded…

You down load a .zip file you unzip it, it has another .zip file in it, you unzip that, there is the .exe

The link you supplied I have already found but cannot find the 53MB file for download. Within the page you sent it says to go to the Blackjack page and then select software. This just jumps me back to the main page.

I was able to find the modem driver but the proper location for downloading the 53MB file still illudes me.

I’m confused, when you download from the site, you download two zip file, one is just instructions, the other has the exe. file, you have to open the zip on the pc, then run it. Maybe redownload the zip?
