Samsung wants to make SMS fun

Samsung is bringing sexy back to SMS messaging by making it more like an instant message session. With their new patent they have filed to create "text threaded conversations". Their new patent will include a picture you have associated with that phone number in a IM styled SMS conversation. This is nothing revolutionary or new, but it is a very easy way to see who you are communicating with. Think of it like Yahoo! IM, but at 10-20 cents a message. Wait, doesn’t the iPhone’s text messaging look like iChat?

Threaded sms is long overdue on plenty of phones in the market place so its good to see that handset makers are starting to put the priority back on this feature, instead of everything else they have been trying to stick into new handsets.

Man, they are SO biting off of Palm and Apple. While Palm’s implementation isn’t as sexy looking as the iPhone’s version will be, Palm did innovate in this arena first, so I definitely have to give them props for that. Question: Are yous till looking for writers or are you all filled up?
