Push email showdown

One of the biggest reasons people refer to the RIM BlackBerry as a CrackBerry is because of it’s constant, always on, push email. Email delivered mere seconds after it sent has become one of the most sought after features as new phones are released. Even the most anticipated upcoming phone, the iPhone, will include push based Yahoo mail. Emoze has been offering free push email, and claims their push is faster then RIM’s. They’ve drawn the line in the sand and are challenging BlackBerry to a speed test at CTIA next week in Orlando, Fl. Emoze was marginally faster at last month’s 3GSM World Congress showdown. Honestly, with over 10 million Blackberry subscribers worldwide, and virtually no one even knowing who Emoze is, even if BlackBerry loses, they still win.

First time I hear of Emoze. I have to agree regardless of the sped the BB is fast enough. Never head a complaint from any BB user that the would just love for it to be faster.

I remember reading about emoze at the 3GSM @ Barcelona. Even if Emoze is capable of doing what its doing, it most likely cannot match the security features of the Blackberry. In addition, the additional features such as access to intranet portals and internal applications. Push e-mail will eventually be a commodity, and RIM understands this. That’s why they’ve got the strategy of “beyond e-mail”

Dude, have you been drinking the Kool-Aid? The only time that a BB is truely a push email device is when a BES is in place. When you have your Yahoo, Excite, AT&T email, etc… email connected to your BB it is a scheduled “push”. That is because the BIS (from RIM) is not in constant contact with Yahoo’s server but rather checks it every 5, 10 , 15 minutes and then “pushes” it out to your device.

    this is for “me”
it is apparent that you do not own a blackberry, so you shouldnt talk.
i have 10 differnt email accounts accociated with my blackbeery and they are all “push enabled”, yahoo, gmail, mail from my college accoutns etc.
the INSTANT a mail is sent to those accounts it arrives on my blackberry, sometimes it arrives on my blackberry BEFORE the actual email account.

Another thing that Blackberry Server does is COMPRESS all attachments in emails, as well as websites you visit, etc.. only giving you the whole document/picture if you request it.

This speeds things up DRAMATICALLY and you don’t have to download huge emails just to read them.

Plus it is fully synced with your regular email.

This Emoze is a program that has to run on your computer and your computer has to be kept on at all times… not very appealing.

Yeah I have actually tried Emoze as a solution for my WM5 HTC Hermes and as a recent Blackberry Pearl User it SUCKS EGGS there is really no comparison & the fact that you have to load it on to a PC (I don’t own a pc had to use someone else’s to test it) AND leave it on at all times I am sorry it just does NOT compare at all. Try again Emoze. MAN I miss my Pearl!
