BlackBerry 8320 In Hand

We’re almost there people! Now if I can only get my hands on the svelte looking chrome and black BlackBerry 8300 model, my life’s mission will be completed. Well, at least for a few hours. Although it’s the same case with minor color changes, the BlackBerry 8320 has one thing the 8300 doesn’t. That’s WiFi. Still no GPS but, let’s hope the 8xxx (Papa Bear) will join his family soon at the BGR Headquarters. Check out some BlackBerry 8320 flicks in the gallery!

On second note: While looking over the device it seems as if it has the standard 2.5mm headset jack, and NOT the 3.5mm headset jack found on the 8300. RIM is really just trying to confuse the hell outta us aren’t they?

Cool. This should be at Verizon in about 3 years, well after my latest BB contract is done.

This is not a CDMA phone :-( It’s definitely GSM.
Look at the pics and you see the first one that reads “Insert SIM card”

    So T-mobile or cingular.

So T-Mo will release the 8320 in the next month or two.

But without 3G – all we have is edge speed. Isn’t that like getting a new laptop with compulsary dial-up internet?

Why not get the laptop that comes with something faster?

At least that is what BG said in another thread – Edge and GPRS only. Do we know? Pretty much a deal breaker for me if no 3G / UMTS

Why doesn’t everyone just buy a Nokia E61 with all this stuff and Wi-Fi since mid 2006? Its a lot slimmer and has GPS and better reception.

@ Sam: Because we like Blackberries, that’s why. Isn’t it obvious?

BG: Is the 8320 heavier than the 8300 due to the added Wi-Fi hardware? One of the things I like about the 8300 is that it is lighter than the 8800 and 8830. It would be worth the extra weight if you will use the Wi-Fi, but I’m not sure I will.

I was just in a T-Mobile store in Manhattan, where they confirmed that this is going to be released in August, and will work with the @home service.

If you can hold out till then…

This product from Idokorro will allow you to view your BB on a desktop – make sure the USB connection is in place. You can then do a print screen if you want.

T-Mobile thru an Account Specialist (more knowledgeable than Customer Service Reps) has confirmed that T-Mobile will carry the next Blackberry Curve. She was not able to comfirm all the official details. ” Soon” was the estimated date, not willing to confirm the Sept 24, 2007 launch date.

I did read online that the Blackberry Curve 8320 will not have GPS (due to the priority to keep the unit thin) and may have the following specs:

    8320 rumored specs:
    # 3.2 megapixel camera (or better)
    # Flash improvement and 6x digital zoom
    # 3.5 mm Headset Jack
    # External microSD slot
    # Wi-Fi capable
    # 64MB of memory
    # Streaming media support
    # 4.5 hours of talk time/17 days of standby
    # Stereo Bluetooth
    # Windows Media DRM & MTP
    # Black or semi Black to be available at later date.
    # Top and rear loudspeaker
    # Motion Lock
    # High speed USB
    # Improved build quality

Don’t forget to sign up for the T-Mobile Router while it is free ($50 cost with a $50 mail in rebate).

Also, if sign up for the Hotspot@Home service before Sept.4 ,2007 (not officially confirmed) will only be $9.99. After Sept 4, may be $19.99. If signed up before Sept 4, the $9.99 will be locked for the future.

I will be getting in line for the Blackberry Curve 8320 when it comes out myself.

I called customer service last night looking for info on a new smartphone. I was excited to find out that T-mobile is indeed releasing the BB 8320 on September 24, 2007. It will have a 2.0 megapixel camera, and the rep. was also able to give a full list of details that I did not ask for but it was nice of him. It definitely has wifi also. He was unable to give me a price as they do not have that info until the day of release.

I got my BB Curve 8320 phone from T-Mobile store in Nashua, NH on Saturday 9/22… This is my first cell phone literally (27 years old and my first phone, go figure). And let me tell you this thing ROCKS!!!

I wish it had GPS tho, it has options for a GPS Data Source but you cannot do anything with it.

I’m in love with a phone now – lost the GF but gained a phone! :-D

Hey does this new curve record videos?

I was just in at&t today, taking a look at the blackberries, and i swear one of the info cards said, “curve 2″. I must’ve been mistaken. It appears only t-mobile carries the phone.

T-Mobile is releasing the 8820 (papa bear) w/UMA, GPS in Jan of 08. This is what I heard from a T-Mobile rep while purchaseing my 8320 this past weekend. I would have waited, but since my company was offering to pay for it I had to jump on the curve. Take it while it’s being offered!
