BlackBerry 8300 and BlackBerry 8800 Comparison Shots

I know everyone has been waiting for these shots to see how the BlackBerry 8300 compares in size to the BlackBerry 8800. One note worth mentioning is that the trackball sits much lower in the device as it does with the 8800 which is great. It feels right now. Remember I told everyone there was the Pearl, then the 8800, then "RIM’s perfect device"? This could be it! On a side note, I was trying to figure out what the keyboard reminds me of, and it’s the 7290, very nice! Peep the shots after the jump!

I read some where that there was a june expected release date. However, I am not sure if I can believe that because, it wasn;t confirmed (obviously) and two, why would Rim release a bb the same month the monster iphone is expected to come out? I think that would be foolish on rims part. We all just have to wait and hear from the BG to do what he does best, Report.

The 8800 appears to be more business/professional looking. At a first glance, I’m not a huge fan of the rubber sides of the 8300.

i agree with the person who said…Here’s to hoping the 9XXX is the perfect RIM device

I like the idea of rubber on the sides. I don’t know how many times my 8700 has slipped out of my hands or off the car seat. My 8700 looks like it has been to war. My friend has burned through two 8100 pearls by dropping them on the pavement and destroying the LCD. So I think the rubber will do three things: 1) make it easier to hold without slipping and 2) possibly make it a bit more durable when it does drop or 3) less scratches on the paint job. My 2 cents worth.

The 8300 is a great answer to the 8800 as far as consumer usability is concerned. From the standpoint of a business owner, the 8800 looks great for an employee who would unwittingly use all of the device memory for pictures or unauthorized media downloads through the WiFi offering. I will probably grab the 8800 and then move over to the 8300 series devices to maintain an all-in-one device. A Blackberry with a camera and WiFi, although not a necessity, is a convenience.

Please to understand, Lloyd,if that is your real name. It is called Marketing Strategy. They called it the 8300 so us 8800 people wont feel bad. They built a buzz for the 8000 series with its last launch party and now they’re filling a niche for people who are not Government contractors and Lawyers. They’ve timed it to catch the wave of the 8800 and ride it ’til summer. Who knows it might work.

To: Julien,Jaume and everyone else who wants themes for your 8800…

I found a way to unlock all the themes for your device by editing the alx file that controls the themes. The process is a bit geeky… but I am sure everyone on this site isn’t afraid…!!! After you have unlocked the hidden themes you will have 10+ themes to chose from. By the way the theme that is pictured on the 8800 above is the NOT today plus but T-Mobile’s Zen theme.
I have tested this and it absolutely works…
    enjoy…

    follow the steps found here:

I got the 8800 the first week it came out, the keyboard was so bad that I sent it back. My co-workers got theirs last week, and the keyboard isn’t the same. It’s good enough that I’m giving it another shot.

The camera would be a nice addition, but I prefer the look and slim size of the 8800.

I also believe that Verizon has really stringent testing requirements that cause all kinds of delays for new models to come to market. I think that’s also why they never carried certain makes of phones (Nokia and Sony). At least I’ve been told that by Verizon customer service (about the testing phase). Hope that helps.
