T-Mobile is in fact releasing the same version of the 8800 (without the walkie talkie software) as Cingular has, the dates I’m hearing are around in a month or so. In fact I have a test one in my hands right now. Comparing with the Cincular 8800 version, which I also have, they are almost identical in hardware (yes GPS is there – no wi-fi). T-Mobile will also be releasing the 8820 later this year, of course with Wi-FI and a bonus.

The 8800 uses Telenav and you have to pay $10/month fee. The GPS works awesome, don’t need to pay Hertz now for the $28/day Neverlost.

Boy Genius, would you know by any chance if this will solely be for Cingular? Please tell me T-Mobile will receive a version of the 8300

I don’t really understand how the GPS works on the 8800 or this one. Do you still have to pay the monthly fee to Cingular to use it or is everything already there like in a TomTom or Garmin GPS?

Is there any chance that RIM will update the 8100 with the features seen here? I’m a new BlackBerry user, so I don’t know how they usually handle OS upgrades, but I would love to see the new media player on my Pearl!
