Cingular/AT&T Responds To Class Action Suit
Do you feel like Cingular’s service quality has fallen significantly since their merger with AT&T? You’re not alone. A class-action lawsuit was filed in 2004 in a Seattle district court, alleging that former AT&T customers who didn’t transfer service to the big Orange experienced terrible call quality and spotty service. This may all be a bit of a moot point by now, but Cingular/AT&T issued a written rebuttal last week, maintaining that the suit was "completely without merit" and are moving for a dismissal of charges. If the case does, in fact, proceed, it could have significant ramifications for cell contracts as a whole, agreements that are notoriously limiting for consumers.

After trying out the new iPhone with AT&T, exchanging the iPhone in hopes that I would getter better service in my home, reporting to AT&T of my reception problem for 2 months, I still drop calls. AT&T insists on $175 cancellation fee even though I cannot get cell service at my home in Scottsdale, AZ. WARNING: DON’T TOUCH AT&T with a 10 foot pole. They are the worst for customer satisfaction.
This company is the joke of this industry the only reason i can see some one coming to at&t is there susch cell phone whores that at&t is the only company they havnt burned yet. Yes mam may i have my crappy plan with a piece of **** phone please…….ohh by the way sign me up for a 2 yr contract
When outside the U.S., you will be charged normal roaming airtime rates when incoming calls are routed to voicemail even if no message is left. International roaming rates apply for all calls placed or received while outside the U.S. Please consult the following web page..
ever since i have been with cingular/at&t even before the when it was just cingular i have had dropped calls, dead spots and poor reception. while other people have had little or no drops or outages, low signal etc. now i am fighting them about my billing and the way they bill, as it was told to me, if your billing is nov 1st to dec 31st and your statement is printed on the 31st you will not see the money you are paid on the statement until the the statment that is printed on the jan 31st, but then they say that what ever payment that are made during the nov 1st to dec 31st billing cycle should show on the statment that is printed out on dec 31st, now is this confusing to any one else?? or is it just me??
??It’s hard to take the advice of someone who can’t even find the “check spelling” area of his computer.
I am looking for a lawyer, or a way to take some kind of legal action against AT&T. I was a former Cingular customer and still one when they became “the New AT&T”. I had been with Cingular (AT&T) for over two years, but since AT&T has become the carrier, my bills have skyrocketed (and that’s an understatement). They’ve gone from averaging between $230.00 and $250.00 monthly; to my last two for Nov-07 and Dec-07 being $1400 and $1700 dollars respectively!! And I have changed nothing about my account i.e. service plans, number of family members in the share plan etc.!!! The same three people are using the service (myself, my 17 and 18 year old kids)(I am the account holder for all of the lines and am the only one who can make changes). We don’t have any fancy, high-tech phones like iPhones or Blackberrys. I was told the exorbitant amounts are due to internet usage… B*LLSH*!!! We have three computers in our homes, and besides that who the heck can tolerate that much time using the internet on a cell phone. I am so thoroughly disgusted I can’t even get through the letter I am trying to compose to AT&T about the situation. In any case, I was googling to see if I could come up with webpages dedicated to similar complaints as mine. Does anyone know of any sites like this? Thanks and best of luck. Oh yeah, Happy New Year too;)
Is there a lawyer suing at&t and on behalf of the old subscribers? The company is now saying they are going to cut of service of old subscribers unless they migrate (ie. to more expepensive less conprehensive plans) please contact me or let me know who to contact so I can jopin the class action suit
A year ago I signed up for a one-year contract with Cingular through the local store. Little did I know how much of that place I’d be seeing over the next twelve months. I got a Nokia smartphone with unlimited web and tethering. For the first three months I received TWO bills each month of different amounts. I told them to add unlimited texting, but it wasn’t shown on my next bill – and they told me it was never added. The amount on my bill has been wrong at least three times. The phone is so locked down you can install only a tiny number of programs on it. As a tethered modem it often has days where it disconnects every ten minutes. I have been in the AT&T store at least once a month for the past year trying to resolve problems. The reps are laughably uninformed and no two of them will provide the same answer. As Cingular has taken on AT&T’s identity I’ve noticed that all the friendly and somewhat helpful reps have quit the place, leaving only the rude and dishonest ones who will call you a liar without batting an eye. A couple days ago I went there to make SURE they did not renew my contract automatically. I was told that I had a year left on my contract. Only a manager could help me and there were none there (or so they claimed) and they said I would be contacted the next day – and amazingly, I was. The woman told me that the only way I could have my contract “adjusted” is if I provided the printed contract proving that I actually bought what was advertised on the wall of the store and that they sold me. I cannot wait to be free of this nightmare. DO NOT GIVE AT&T YOUR BUSINESS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
I have joined the Class Action Law Suit against AT&T/Cingular.
I was lied to by a telephone operator who tol me that I would keep my same plan even though I bought a new phone. I asked her three times if I would keep the same cell plan. She said yes. As it turns out that was not the case. She blatantly decieved me and committed fraud in my opinion.
I would like to join the class action suit if anyone can post it on here where to go. Last year, my cell phone bill skyrocketted like I am reading happened to other peoples bills. I had over 2000 rollover minutes, and then they all of a sudden stated they expired and they were gone. I was missing a couple of my bills and when I called to get copies sent to me so I could compare, AT&T denied my request for duplicate bills to be sent to me. They shut my phone off, when I was disputing a $900 bill that they stated I owed when all my previous bills were less than $100 regularly! The same thing has just happened to some friends of mine, and they said the first thing they thought of was what happened to me. They are now in disputes as well, and, of course, getting nowhere with AT&T, and their extremely rude customer service personnel.
I have been asked to leave AT&T since the merger because of “OFF NETWORK USAGE”. Only problem is my calling habits or area have not changed. The only change has been the agreement with different service providers in my area that I have no control over. I asked AT&T to reimbuse just my connection fee to a new carrier and was denied.
This is a different issue with AT&T. They are now doing “contracts” with land lines complete with termination fees. I had never heard of such a thing (including when they called to solicit my business) until I switched to another service and was billed $200.
please help. At&t deceived me and my wife and told us that we could change our family plan to a lower rate plan with no added fees, instead they split our plan into two seperate plans whickh is $20 more a month. Is there anyone that can help with this?
I was an AT&T customer that was forced to switch to Cingular. Although I do feel I was ripped off about the new phone thing my complaint is about the billing practices. You see, after they switched me I paid my new Cingular branded bill and thought all was fine. Then, I get a phone call from a collection agent telling me that AT&T had sent out a past due balance on my “old” account for collection! I called AT&T Wireless. AT&T Wireless admits that they did not merge the bills. They admit that I’ve always paid my Cingular bill. My minutes rolled over.. but not my balance and I was totally unaware. My Cingular bills have always showed the balance as paid. Now this is on my credit report where it is doing financial damage. Did this happen to anybody else? Is there a class action I can join?
If you find out if there is a class action suit against Att?cingular please let me know as I want to join.
AT&T IS THE SCUM OF CORPORATIONS/. THE OLD AT&T SCAMMED THEIR SHAREHOLDERS WHEN THEY BROKE UP THE COMPANY. THEN WHEN THEY SOLD IT TO CINGULAR AT A ROCK BOTTOM PRICE BECAUSE THE SCUM CONTINUED TO HOLD A LARGE NUMBER OF SHARES AT THE SAME TIME THEY KNEW THEY WILL BE BYING BACK THE COMPANY CINGULAR AGAIN AT A ROCK BOTTOM PRICE. DO YOU SEE THE PLOT? IN ADDITION THEY HAVE NOT PAID ALL SHARE HOLDERS FOR THE SHARES THEY HELD. F*CK AT&T . IF THERE IS ANY LAWYER OUT THERE i WANT TO SUE THESE MOTHER F*CKERS FOR PENNY THEY HAVE….
I renewed our 2 year contract in order to updating our phones. we got 2 new flip phones and a blue tooth. my husband didn’t not like flip phone button too small, put his sims card back in old phone. The one I had quit in 10 days screen went white. My mother was very sick and working moved my sins card to husbands phone. 21 days this phone quit screen on this one went black, went to old Cinglar store they said they could not do anything
it had been over 30 days it had been 31 had to deal with company. my mother died had to go to
Austin TX next day for burial called Cinglar/ATT could only send phone if I sent old ones to them. my Husband put sims card in old phone which was 4 years old dim screen. got old phone to work there and back still using old phones now 5 years old we can,t be too hard on phone.
Two phones with blue tooth are in plastic bag,
at home that was a year ago we have not seen phones since.
Just can not find them
BTW we live in Springdale AR 12 hour trip.
ATT just cut my phones off for using them too much. I had an International plan an use the phones in Mexico. They said that I was using them more than 40 % off there towers. This is the plan they offered me I didn’t go to them, 4 years ago they offered this plan to me. I am in Mexico now and have no way of contacting them. Is anybody thinking of suing them? I would like to be apart of that suit.
I’ve been having problems with my Cingular Samsung SGH A707. It’s been making screeching noises to everyone I talk to (including the at&t rep), I can’t hear the sound, but everyone else can. I called AT&T wireless to ask what the problem was.(by the way, not the first problem with this phone) They immediately told me I was eligible for a exceptional upgrade and that I could choose any phone they had and receive it for free as long as I resigned up for another 2 year contract. I asked it that free phone choice included PDA’s and the customer service rep assured me that “yes” I could choose ANY PHONE. I thought, “great”. I went to the AT&T store I was referred to, and to my surprise, there was no notation on my account about a free phone. The only notation was that I could buy a phone at the upgrade price with a new 2 year contract. I said, “why would I do that?” I still have nearly a year on this contract. I called At&t again and after about 45mins of being told there was no notation on my account referring to a conversation about a free phone, I told them to go back and listen to the recording of my conversation witht the rep, “I mean for quality assurance, you did record my phone call right?” “well, we don’t always record phone calls” the rep informed me. But then after the “conversation with my superviser” bit, I was again assured I would get a free phone. I mean because I am a “Level 3″ Customer and have been with them for so long….yada yada yada…. yeah…Uh huh, sure. Anyway… I went back to the store and, whadaya know, “Im sorry, but the notation on your account doesn’t say anything about a Free phone”. “I just hung up with your customer service guy 5 minutes ago,” I told the employee, “and he assured me multiple times, that I was to come to your store and pick out a phone”. Next I called At&T and asked how much it was to cancel my contract because my next stop was going to be Verizon, and would he send me an email outlining the final cancellation fee. Again, this new rep (since I can never talk to the same person twice) assured me that I could order my free phone from him, and have it shipped to me but I’d have to pay up front and get a full rebate for the phone later. I said, “I’ll tell ya what, you email all of the details to me including the fact that I am to receive any phone you carry for ie: no charge and the payoff amount of my contract and I’ll make a decision after that. Yeah…You guessed it, NO EMAIL. I’ll be calling again tomorrow to request that payoff amount to be text to me and then I’ll be switching to Verizon. Already have the phone picked out. Somebody sue this lying cheating company. I am so sick of American Business Practices. Lie, cheat, steal, and then deny it. It just makes me so sad.
where’s the quality? Every time I see one of their commercials my blood pressure rises. I’m done with them as soon as my sontract is up on December 10, 2008
I’m having the exact same problems as the person 2 posts above. got told the same theng.
ATT is just about the worst company I have ever dealt with. Billing errors on every bill. I swear the people who programmed their billing system must be math-retarded because the numbers never add up. If you really want to have some fun, call up their customer service department and have one of their first level representatives try to explain your billing charges. Then when it gets to be too much, blow up and ask for a supervisor. Not their fault? They are the grease that keeps the wheels of AT&T rolling over the little guy.
I personally have to thank AT&T for providing me with a source of and outlet for my rage… plus I get mediocre phone service as part of the package. SWEET! For roughly $90 a month I get two cell phones and a whole crew of people to yell at over the telephones and I get to wonder if that guy on the VErizon phone really has fewer bars. If he does then why am I standing there thinking about throwing my phone due to lack of signal while he continues his conversation?

They have made errors on our phone bills, said they would adjust it and never done so. They found errors that 3 different Customer Support Reps said were obvious and that our phone could not even done and never actually made any adjustment.
I continued to make payments and they never sent a revised Bill. They did NOT credit the account for payments made or deduct their obvious errors.
Then they sent the bill to collection. Our credit report was hit.
Another very disatisfied AT&T customer. Exceedingly high cell phone bills…ditto…, Inconsistent explanations from customer service…ditto, unfulfilled quotes on “agreed” services and costs….ditto.
And now a new game, bundled satellite, land line, cell phone, and internet. The goal of going bundled to save money(promoted by AT&T). The actual experience: More opportunities for AT&T to insert charges, line items, and generally keep the customer confused and continually seeking (poor) customer service for explanations, while the monthly due date ticks down…month after month. Thinking of bundling with AT&T? DON’T DO IT. During 3 months of service, 3 bills substantially over
“quotes”. This is obviously designed/integrated into the AT&T system. More evidence for (another) class action. I am investigating options….
Why are they billing me for 2nd line when the rate plans state first 2 lines. Get the first two lines for one low price. Each additional line is just $9.99 per month. If you find out if there is a class action suit against Att/cingular please let me know as I want to join. I have other trouble too when they force me to switch.
