Unboxing: Gold Motorola V3xx

Here goes some more ritual Unboxing goodness in the form of the Cingular Gold V3xx. The unit is exactly the same as the Grey V3xx and is a little larger and heavier than the standard RAZR. The battery is a slightly extended and has a little more weight to it, due to compensate for the added 3G support. If your in the market for a RAZR-like phone, one that does 3G, and out flashes a light bulb this could be your phone. Check the more link for the rest of the pics!

It appears that the indented hinge part with the cheezy plastic cover over where the second camerea is suppossed to be is gone. I thought that was pretty lame when I saw that cover on the grey one. guess they finally realized it was too.

One more thing, Like many people I expected a fully functional maxx for cingular. This phone is ok, but im pretty burned out on the whole razr thing. I dont really care about video calling, but that plastic cover on original launch really bugged me. So cingular, if we cant have the second camera, could we at least have somthing more than a 1.3 considering that 2.0 is the standard and 3.2 and more is now standard in 3rd world countries. I had this phone for a day, yes it a giant leap over the v3i, but lets stop letting the rest the world kick our *** I for one am losing interest very quickly, reading about all the great phones on these websites, that we will never see in there fully functional form here in the states. Guess we could view this phone as a baby step in the right direction. I just hope someday we catch up.

Tim, you should read this paper (warning it’s a PDF):

It’s a bit long, I know, but it’s worth the read. The reason the rest of the world is “kicking our ***” is because the Carriers in the US exert so much control over the features that they allow.

Until we here in the US get off the “subsidy crack”, we will never EVER see fully functional phones from the Carriers.

More Cingular crap…I was never impressed with the Razr. Why is the USA so far behind other countries in terms of cell phone technology and cell phone releases?

I bought this phone Friday. I’m not all that high-tech and I guess I don’t require a “fully functional” phone. (I probably couldn’t operate one). This one takes good pictures, sounds great, and looks fabulous!

In what way is this V3xx a huge leap from the V3i?

When taking photos with this V3xx, can you changed the settings so you can take the photo in Colour, Black and White, Blue, Red, Green, Antique and Negiative like with the V3i?

I’ve had my new V3xx (Gold ofcourse) for 2 months now. It does everything I need it to, plus it looks great! I only wish Cingular carried new themes for it like the Razr.
