Replay Media Catcher Allows You To “Borrow” Off-Limits Content

You all know the feeling while watching the latest episode of Lost on ABC.com.  You feel a burning desire, deep inside (no, not that burning feeling) to rip the episode to your hardrive and watch it a bit later. Applian Technologies knows your pain, and has decided to do something about it. Their new Replay Media Catcher allows PC owners to rip content from ABC.com, NBC.com, YouTube, MySpace Video, and Google Video. It also handles streaming audio with great success. A free trial is available, with the full version tops out at $39.95.  Excuse me while I go scour the internet for educational videos.

Well, think again… RMC is great for hulu.com, but it won’t work on abc.com. It captures all the commercials just fine, but not the main episode. Ain’t that great? When you go to their site to try to get support and read that RMC won’t work with abc.com, but yet another one of their products will, WM Recorder. So you shell out the additional $40 for WM Recorder only to find out that it also doesn’t work with abc.com episodes. Captures commercials but not the episodes. Gotta love the content creator/ripper wars.
