Crash Overide is right it's all about the coolness factor. At the heart Apple is a Technology company, but they understand that most people are not and don't want to be. They want something kewl, and that's why iPods were successful. When everyone was building these big MP3 players with everything and the world, Apple gave consumers what they wanted an MP3 player that did it right and was sexy and kewl. Now they have added all these extra features and people follow them because the device get's kewler and sexier. The iPone commercial is a classic, if you didn't know what it was then you need to go out and buy a clue. At work everyone was talking about switching to Cingular for the iPhone, especially now that supposely the price dropped. Apple products are the most talked about tech stuff, from non tech people. How many people have iPods, and how many do u think are going to pay cancellation fees, just to make sure they get a 4 or 8 GB iPhone..... However, that is intentional in my humble opinion. Apple wants the masses to know that they control the cool gadget universe. Think MP3, think IPOD...think mobile phone....think Apple IPHONE. Apple wants you to know that they ARE coolness. They are so cool in fact, that they don't ever have to mention their name.
