Apple iPhone Commercial at the Oscars
Well, it happened. A short, but sweet commercial from Apple showing off the infamous iPhone during the 79th Annual Academy Awards. A nice way to do it featuring various scenes in movie history featuring, well, people on the phone. Remember people it’s coming in June.

I didn’t see it last night, but that was pretty good.
I was a little underwhelmed with the iPhone ad – was hoping for something more from apple.
i agree with BB-v-iPhone… i heard a rumor that there would be a commercial for it so i had high expectations. i don’t think the ad sold the product very well seeing that it showed the iPhone for a split second and didn’t even mention its name. how can you sell a product and not mention its name! well anyways, i have a crapped out razr thats over 2 years old now and i cannot wait until june to get that phone.
It was the perfect time and location when you have the world, and I mean the world, tuned in. The viewership for the Oscars is huge. It is terrific market seeding if you want to sell 10 million phones.
“Hello?”……Thats pretty close to “Hello Moto.”
I understand the comments about the short amount of actual product exposure and the lack of name mention . However, that is intentional in my humble opinion. Apple wants the masses to know that they control the cool gadget universe. Think MP3, think IPOD…think mobile phone….think Apple IPHONE. Apple wants you to know that they ARE coolness. They are so cool in fact, that they don’t ever have to mention their name. “If you don’t already know ya better ax somebody”…Word and all that…that’s the strategy!
I loved the ad, and many people who aren’t nearly as nerdy as I am thought it was cool and much classier than most gear ads. It was a nice choice for the Oscar telecast–it’s not the SuperBowl after all.
I’d like to know if anyone has succeeded in identifying all of the movies/TV series in the ad, which I thought was fantastic, naturally………….it’s Apple.
It was the best commercial I have ever seen when it comes to anouncing a product like the iPhone. Crash Overide is right it’s all about the coolness factor. At the heart Apple is a Technology company, but they understand that most people are not and don’t want to be. They want something kewl, and that’s why iPods were successful. When everyone was building these big MP3 players with everything and the world, Apple gave consumers what they wanted an MP3 player that did it right and was sexy and kewl. Now they have added all these extra features and people follow them because the device get’s kewler and sexier.
The iPone commercial is a classic, if you didn’t know what it was then you need to go out and buy a clue. At work everyone was talking about switching to Cingular for the iPhone, especially now that supposely the price dropped.
Apple products are the most talked about tech stuff, from non tech people. How many people have iPods, and how many do u think are going to pay cancellation fees, just to make sure they get a 4 or 8 GB iPhone…..
