This blackberry is the best ever. It’s for corporate business mostly and that’s probably the reason that it doesn’t have a camera. The best thing that it has wi/fi and e-mail. You’ll never lose an e-mail. You don’t need to log in to check your e-mail, which is the opposite of the Iphone. The battery lasts a long time. It has a nice sleek look with crome. The interface could be a little outdated, but totally reliable.

Actually camera phones are allowed in Government environments, it all depends on the Security Level. I’ve never seen a Private Corp. where a cam-phone is not allowed, unless again it is in a specific area dealing with Secure Info. If there is no Security Checkpoint, for the most part they are allowed.

The camera is not an issue. I have plenty of small pocket sized digital cameras. The WiFi IS a strong selling point though. The frosting would be the streaming media. I feel like Eric Cartman standing in front of the game store waiting for his beloved nintendo WII to arrive….thank God I dont look like him!!! hahahahaha ok ok enough with the long drawn out release dates. The mob is getting unruly!

“a select few”?? are you kidding me?? Blackberry’s largest clientele base consists of companies where outside cameras or recording devices aren’t allowed IN ANY FORM on the premises. This includes…duh… the GOVERNMENT. I sincerely doubt that they would toss these huge clients out the window simply to satisfy gadget-freaks who are going to use the built in camera on their new toy once every month. Maybe RIM should fire their R&D and Marketing execs and just hire you?

Cameras on the blackberry phone will be a very nice feature. I don’t care about those working people taunts of spying just because there is a camera on the phone. Grow up! Many phones have been sold with this feature. More money is ready to be made to the masses and not a select few.

Will the 8820 or any of the full keyboard BB’s have 3G? I don’t see how wifi benefit most users over 3G since coverage with 3G is significantly greater and free.

WLAN in the 8800?

If you check the device specs for the Cingular Blackberry 8800 on Cingular’s Developer’s portal, you’ll note that according to their spec, the 8800 comes with WiFi?!?!?!?! Is this true???? is it disabled? Anyone figured out yet how to enable it?

I just spoke to my T-Mobile rep and they are getting the 8800 at the end of March AND they will be getting the 8820 w/WiFi sometime early summer. Also, the 8820 will be a UMA device.

I agree, a camera would never make it in our corproate enviornment. There are those that have a company phone, but choose to get this service separately instead of adding it to their 8703 or 8700c. These folks get crappy phones b/c all the good ones have cameras on them – and they are not allowed.

I’m happy that the 8820 does not have a camera otherwise I would’ve been stuck with the 8800 w/o WI-FI. Although I do hope the 8820 supports streaming media, and I hope there’s a slingbox client somehwere for it so I can watch TV anywhere in the house.

I think one of the reasons why you do not see cameras on BBs is in the corporate world (BB’s target customer), many companies do not allow employees or visitors to certain facilities to have cameras in order to protect their information/trade secrets. Otherwise people could snap pictures of presentations or ideas on whiteboards.
