New Cingular 8525 Upgrade; Blackberry Connect, Cingular Video and More!

A pre-release version of a new ROM for the Cingular 8525 a.k.a HTC TyTn has surfaced over at xda-developers, and it looks to be a big one. You remember, the one we told you about right? Sporting support for Push-To-Talk, Cingular Video, and Blackberry Connect, the new ROM features far more than the usual upgrade fare. Of note is the fact that the updated operating system now features an AT&T splash screen when you boot the device. This one isn’t official yet, but judging from reports out of both xda-developers and HoFo, it’s only a matter of time. If anyone feels like taking the unsupported plunge right now, please let us know!

What is the likelihood of an upgrade to WM6? I know it’s a stretch, but it would be really cool if it was an option.

I was just about to post that I got the Rom loaded up. And boy, the improvments are quite apparent. The phone feels much more stable, aswell as the obvious software changes.

*Holding the comm button down now toggles Vib/Ring
    *Cingular Video is now supported
    *PTT is too…
*Blackberry icon in the program area
*att&t logos all over the place, Cingular 8525 huh…

    The list goes on!

I would like a copy of the 8525 software if possible. I currently work for Cingular “the NEW AT&T” I think that it would be great to be able to show customers what there phone will really do… Does anybody know if this upgrade interfers with good link at all?

my advice, whatever that means, stick with the version it already has. i’ve had the 8525 since my local store got it in november and i follow the “if it ain’t broke…” mentality on this one. also… why would you risk bricking a $500 phone, i don’t know about you, but i don’t have that just blaze guap to take a chance like that… plus you don’t even have it yet so you wouldn’t know to improve it without even trying it out

I have the update for the 8525 (I work for at&t). And I have owned a 8525 since it first came out and have been waiting on this update with the ptt for a very long time. Our PTT is awesome I like using that because I can just look at my phone and know if someone is available to talk or not. And the closing of programs is awesome it save time on going to memory and running programs and close all like you use to have to do. If you are looking for the update just go to http://www.htc.com and put in your provider and the phone model and then go to support. And from there it is a breeze.

I upgraded the Rom and reinstalled Good soft. I am no longer able to access my Good contacts from the phone screen. Previously it used to go to my Good contacts and not the phone contacts. Any ideas, fixes, etc.
