Pop-Up Joystick Concept Aims To Make Cellphone Gaming More Accessible

Cellphone gaming has always lacked a certain, well, level of fun. Between awkward control systems and convoluted menus, anything but the most simple games (read: Snake) have been beyond the reach of traditional handsets. A mysterious Russian company named Industrial Design aims to change all of that. An interesting concept piece has shown up on their website, simply titled "CompactAnalogThumbstick." Their concept consists of a retractable thumb-controlled joystick that rests flush with the handset and acts as a traditional d-pad when not in use. The English on the site is rather poor, but it’s clear that this concept is just that, and is nowhere near production. An interesting idea, let’s see if any of the major manufactures follow suit.
