Automotion Introduces Fully Automated Parking Garage In NYC

New Yorkers now have one less reason to complain about downtown parking congestion. Condominium residents at 123 Baxter Street have access to a fully automated parking system developed and installed by, well, Automotion Parking Systems. Residents drive their vehicle onto a ramp, swipe their ID card, exit the car, and wait for the magic to happen. As soon as the driver is out of harm’s way the parking system raises the car through a slot in the ceiling, navigating it’s way to one of 67 unoccupied spaces in the 27-foot high parking floor. A conveyor belt delivers the car safely into a parking berth. When the owner is ready to leave, he/she simply swipes the card again, and the system retrieves the vehicle. Pricing is competative to other New York parking garages. Check the link for a video that puts it all in perspective.

How does this work if one has multiple cars?
I don’t see any link to a video.
Secondly, there’s no address for this garage. 123 Baxter Street doesn’t show up on http://www.NYCGarages.com. So how do I know it exists?
If they are so automated, where’s the freaking website link??
rating: WORTHLESS article.
Dear JP,
Thank you and your peers for interest in our system. I am the CEO of the firm and wish to comment on your issues.
The picture shown on this blog is NOT our system nor is it automated. It is a picture of a manua stacking parking equipment.
We are located at 123 baxter Street, corner of Hester in downtown Manhatten.
Our web link is http://www.automotionparking.com. We will look into why we are not listed at NYCGarages.com. Thank you for pointing it out!
I think the whole concept is pretty cool.
However, the scheme of having someone’s hunk of junk stacked on top of my automobile scares me a bit. What’s to keep Joe Shmoe’s 1987 crap-mobile from leaking oil and radiator fluid all over my brand new soft top!
(I don’t really own a convertible, I’m just dreaming out loud.)

the car sits on pallets and collects and leaking water and oil. nothing touches the car or leaks onto it.
Whats the policy on having pets in the car while parked for short periods of time?
or Passengers?
Also, If the area were to undergo a power-outage, could I still get my pets back?

J.P. mentioned the website http://www.NYCGarages.com above in his post. This is just to let everyone know that the website has been re-branded as http://www.BestParking.com. It now includes a free mobile service and the ability to book free “Reservations” at over 20% of Manhattan facilities.
