Hands On: Verizon Motorola MAXX Ve

Ever since the leaked photo from Motorola, the Verizon MAXX Ve has been lurking in the deep waters never to be found. That is ofcourse until today. Sportin’ a much larger external display than it’s GSM cousin, the Verizon unit looks dramatically better. Some other changes are a 2 mega-pixel Auto Focus camera, and keypad layout. Everything seemed to be pretty fast, for a Verizon UI. The camera worked very well auto-focusing shots before taking the final click, and MP3 controls on the outer screen were responsive. The rest of the pics are after the jump!

I saw the phone today at a Verizon store. It is not big by all means. Seems about the same as the RAZR. However, the hinge is bulky and has the focus/zoom button on it.
The interface stinks and is limited. I am use to the MOTO UI on my E815 and also, I like the UI on the LG phones and some of the Samsungs. I really like this phone, but the UI may break the deal and I may go for a Chocolate. Well my Two years deal in next month. I will wait and see if there are any refinements and bugs worked out on a newer version if they get one.
Overall, the phone is slick except the hing when you open it. Closed it is super slick!
Cheerio!
I have the Maxx ve. I think it is a great phone. I personally don’t mind the verizon UI. My main goal is to have a phone that i can have a decent conversation with, and will not cut out in the middle of the conversation. Verizon has excellent networking for that alone. I never get cut out talkin to other people on a verizon phone. Everytime i talk to someone on Nextel or cingular they get cut out all the time. I hate talkin to them when they are on there cell phone.
I like that the Maxx ve has the mobil web, vcast, able to play mp3s and so on, But still i bought the phone for talkin on, the rest are just a added bonus. To me some of you think the other features are more important in a phone. I guess its all up to the individual for what they bought it for.
Anyway bottom line is if your a verizon customer and up for a new phone you won’t be disappointed in the Maxx ve. The build quality is better then my old E815, The reception is great, It feels better in my hands since its made out of metal and glass instead of plastic. It also has the mini usb connection for recharging the battery. I started haveing trouble charging my E815 with the old type of charging system. So far i like this phone alot better then my last one. I have had this phone for 3 weeks now and i have had no problems.
Good Job Moto and Verizon.
