Unboxing: Motorola V3xx

Here you have it folks, the Motorola V3xx on Cingular officially out today — but you don’t care right? That’s never stopped us from Unboxing so let’s get to it! First off the color; it’s the grey version which looks just like a Verizon RAZR combined with a V3i. Second the GSM/UMTS radio; it doesn’t work that well. The 3G reception is fair, regular GSM reception is just any other RAZR but the hand-off isn’t that smooth. A couple times my data connection disappeared, no EDGE, no 3G. We all knew this but thanks for taking out the front-facing camera AT&T Wireless, Cingular, at&t. Click on for the ritual Unboxing!

There is, that just shows you how sub-par the 3G radio is…Every other 3G phone in this area would have shown 3G.

Wow that sucks, the Cingular store I went to sold out of 6 of these todays. What do you guys think is the best 3G phone (regular non smartphone PDA) in Cingular’s lineup? The Samsung Sync?

I have this phone. For about 3 days now. I am getting 3G signal pretty much all the time.
I know of 2 other’s who have this phone and none of them have problems with 3G signal either.
Maybe you were in a “fringe” area.

I’ve had my V3XX from Cingular for 3 days, so far solid 3G and no dropped calls. I’m very happy with the hi res screens and speed. However, very dissapointed in the email options - no email with POP setup in the “Message Center”. I can only use the Media Net email which is not very good, for me. I was able to set up my Roadrunner email on tne V3 nicely right from the Message Center. Hopefully there will be improvements downstream. I also have encountered a few app bugs likely associated with the Opera V 8.0 browser - the “Use Data Network” prompt keeps repeating after 3-4 pan or zoom actions. Again, experience says it will take some time to work the bugs out.
