Unboxing: HTC Cavalier

I have been looking forward to this ritual for a while now, and finally a little while ago it happened. The HTC Cavalier (S630) in the flesh unboxed. As many of you know it’s a needed upgrade to the ever popular HTC Excalibur (and all incarnations). The processor has been upgraded to a Samsung 400Mhz, flash memory of 128MB, a 2-mega pixel camera, and a slightly updated form factor. The 3G is tri-band, 850/1900/2100 and I have been zipping along Cingular’s network without a hitch so far. HSDPA baby! Signal reception is as good or better than the Excalibur and the JOGGR touch-wheel has been moved to the direct side instead of by the screen. And now for some bad news, HTC sent out a memo to all distributors saying this device has been “postponed indefinitely”. Who knows. Follow the HTC trail for more pics!

included HTC suede soft-case

JOGGR, camera button

mini-usb charging cover

power button, microSD slot, and voice notes button

yep! that’s Cingular 3G (HSDPA bitches!)

all the usual suspects HTC includes…

not bad I say, not bad!

this is really cool, the default homepage in Internet Explorer is this picture above, it integrates Microsoft Live search and it grabs the content from your Favorites and your History, click on one of the icons to see how it works

Favorites expands and shows your favorites

and History shows your history, genius!

yeah thats right 400mhz, i’m ready for some serious skypeage!

Thanks to my man Stan at E-Gadget Depot for always coming through!

Can anyone post a copy of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key? Come on Guys? Is it so difficult? If you don’t know how it is so simple: Use PHM Registry Editor. Highlight the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, use export to either the Main Memory or your SD card. Using Activesync copy the reg. file as it is and attach it to the email: sergedy2k@hotmail.com
    Please, please, please!

I too would like to know whom is the source of the Cavalier - reliable that is.

Can anyone do a test as watching video in media player, then switching to launch and communicate a few messages in Messenger, then switch back to play WMP > any glitches, is it faster for switching complex apps/memory requirements & smoother at screen redrawing?

    Thanks.

That is unfortunate, this looks like it was going to be a very Bad ASS phone. I wonder if it will never be released in this form. I.E. what others have discussed that maybe they were going to add another radio to it or make some other changes, which would officially make it another rev, new model and name. So maybe we will see a phone very much like this, just not this one. At least we can hope!
