BlackBerry 8800 & 9xxx Series
I thought I would share some new info I received pertaining to the 8800 on Cingular, and the new 9xxx series
- The 8800 on Cingular is scheduled for a mid February release.
- The 8800 (Cingular model) will not have a camera like previously reported.
- The 8800 keys are very much like the 8700, just a tad shorter — easy to type!
- Cingular’s 8800 will not have Wi-Fi
- The 9xxx series will have 3G
- The 9xxx series will support a full backup and restore to microSD card!
- Not sure if this is just Cingular, probably all major carriers but BIS 3.0 will be rolled out at the 9xxx launch
- It will have a new processor
- The 9xxx series will have a completely new UI
- The 9xxx series is scheduled to be released Q4 on Cingular
Thats it for now, you know where to keep checking for the latest info.

does anyone know the deal with RIMs trade up program? after seeing this i figured i should get acquainted. yet, it doesn’t seem likely i’ll be able to offload my 8700c this way as there would be no way right now to upgrade from it now. i.e. 8700 series is not an option for trade in unit and pearl isn’t an option to trade up to.
What do you want to bet that Apple had something to do with the 8800 not getting Wi-Fi, as part of the deal for IPhone?
Does Blackberry’s Crimson will be “Treo Killer”. When will it release? 3Q? I don’t think so. Palm Treo 680, 700, and 750 does a lot improved what I have seen.
It is well established that Cingular will be releasing a software update with RIM for the 8700c in about a month, to include PTT. Trust me, they want to have PTT on every device they can. It’s an easy way to make more money.
Thats the logical thing, but you have to realize… the iphone does not have 3G or HSDPA…so that nulls your point sadly
