Palm Sees Low Profits Due to Treo Delays

Treo 750, Treo 750 where are you? Profits were down 12 percent this quarter due to increased production costs and the delay of the Treo 750. A month ago Palm lowered its revenue forecast to try to accomodate for the non-existent low sales figures. Apparently Palm cited that "a delay by a U.S. cell phone carrier in ensuring the Treo 750 works seamlessly with the carrier’s network" was part of the cause for their low profits, *cough* Cingular *cough*.

BG,
Any final word on if this will have HSDPA?
Release date?
Thanks, and keep up the good work!
Jon-
The Treo 750 that people are importing from Vodafone networks, are all capable of HSDPA on Cingulars network. I believe a simple reg hack enables HSDPA…
As of today there is still only going to be UMTS for the Cingular Treo 750 at launch. HSDPA will be added as a firmware update in the spring along with PTT support.
JG and Charles,
Thanks for the updates guys. How the hell can Palm release such a crippled phone?
Maybe the delays are to make sure you dont need a hack to use HSDPA…..
So are we looking for a January release?
why wait? just get a 8525, it is superior in specs
I like the exposed keyboard….. I’d love to get the 8525, but I Think I’d hate using is one handed.
Had the 8525, was a real pain to use..you really need 2 hands. I became an expert at sideways one fingered typing to try to find a contact, but it was a poor excuse for a phone. Not to mention its a brick to carry around…might be superior in specs, but its inferior in practical, everyday use.
