Cingular BlackBerry Pearl Now Shipping
I know everyone (including myself) was waiting for an official announcement this morning about the BlackBerry Pearl availability on Cingular. It has been released, it started shipping to all stores today. Most stores will receive them by Thursday with some stores getting them by tomorrow. Cingular has constantly moved the Pearl’s release date around so it comes as no suprise that the internal release date, as recent as a week ago has not happened. Gone here to. I should have pushed that order button this morning when I had the chance.
I tried to order but it errored out at the checkout. I sent the order through my Cingy rep. I hope she can get it through, I ordered 4. I don’t think it’ll be back up this week. Maybe Friday. Who knows. Cingular really screwed this up.
I may have some news by tomorrow—my Cingular store manager told me it was coming in on Wednesday, and that fits in with my “promise” for November 30th. I’m saying I will have one in hand by Thursday morning, ahead of the T-Mobile expiration of their exclusive that expires on Friday.
I’ve just been told by our business manager, who previously also said today, that the release has been pushed back another week.
Cingular branded Pearls have just begun to show up on EBAY. That must mean they are close. These are probably ones that were given to reps because they are being sold without the original packaging. Just the phone and power cord.

Still looking to hear when they show up in the stores. The ones I have called in NJ still pretty much have no clue. Those of you who did already get one, where did it come from?

Update from West Florida: My store Manager called to tell me that all she got in today was a Demo Phone, and doesn’t expect delivery until next week; but I’ve been promised the first one out of the carton—looks like Monday at the earliest for me.
The Pearl is back up on Premier!!! I just got the order in for 5 of them!!! I have all 5 order confirmation emails. I should get 2 of them Monday!!! Oh Boy, Christmas comes but one time a year!!!!

I picked mine up from a Cingular store near DuPont circle on Saturday afternoon. They’ve had a plethora of them on sale since Friday, however several other stores around the area still don’t know when they’re getting them. Looks like higher volume stores are getting them first.
And for the record, I called back a rep at a Gaithersburg store today, and he told me that Cingular wouldn’t have the Pearl for at least 4 more weeks. “Oh really, Cingular won’t have the Pearl until probably new years?” I asked, and he said yes. I had that conversation while talking on my Pearl…
That’s a funny story about the Gaithersburg Cingy store! Well we finally got 2 of our 5 we ordered. We ordered the 5 via Premier and the 2 we got today, we used overnight shipping. This baby is nice!!! I have it paired to my Plantronics Voyager 510. The voice dialing is hot, but not very accurate. I guess it has to learn. We’ll try the PTP later once we have all of the devices in. BEWARE: There is NO case with the Pearl! I have read Cingy lit that said it came with a case. That is not the case and it is not mentioned on the box either. Also, there is no case on the Premier website for the 8100.
