BG, Quentin, and staff -
Welcome to the party. I feel like there should be some sort of hazing, but I don’t know who’d be the one hazing the other. Looking forward to this. High five.
Good stuff Boy Genius! Makes me glad I have waited on a Pearl (while it is still nice). Finally, a one stop spot for all the information that comes from Boy Genius!
What aboot us Nextel users? We are getting left out of everything…. I want to upgrade, but not to a 7100i if there are bigger and brighter things coming down the pipe….
Good stuff, great site, keep up the good work.
Nice job, Boy Genius! Now all I have to do is wait and hope that Cingular will pick up the Crimson– I want that one soooo bad! It’s Blackberry perfection.
Very nice, but one question. Why is the crimson shown in all the spec pages different from the crimson shown on the blackberry roadmap for release dates? Which one do you think the crimson really is?
Well there are 2 versions of the Crimson, most likely carrier models. The gray one is vodafone, and the other is up for guess most likely T-Mobile. They just listed one I think instead of both. Same device release timeframe for both Crimsons though…
Thanks BG,
I went from Nextel 7520 to this wack sprint 6700 WM. I need my blackberry back and I can’t wait for the indigo and the crimson to come out.
BG, you are awesome! Keep it up
Very hot site son.
Dude – you’re like the BB God. Love your info and your thoroughness with all the cool BB info. Thanks a mil’! You’re helping me make smart decisions for future BB purchases!
With all the new models coming out I see none of them have the “jog wheel” anymore. Is this the end of the wheel for all models being relplaced by the trackball?
Is it true? The Cingular model has 1400mAh battery and the Tmo (camera) model only 1100mAh?
Having issues waiting on the Crimson..will need counseling and medication to endure the wait. BTW, you have done a great job putting together this site!
Any insight on when/if Sprint-Nextel will get with this? I had heard there was a dual band in bb in the works for them to maximize the use of their iden network for direct connect and use their Sprint infrastructure for data and voice, any thoughts? Anyone?
Thanks BG!
Anyone know the size of the screen. I know it has a 320×240 resolution, but so does alot of phones. 2.4in 2.8in ?? .. I have the E62 and though its the same resolution the size of the screen is great.
Let’s hope for the ability to stream audio for these new Blackberries!!
Also it wouldn’t be too awful if they would allow for Bluetooth headsets.
Looks like my 8100 will be getting an upgrade soon.
BG, I just wanted to thank you for all of the correct information you provide in a Blackberry world full of so much information that most of the time is not so helpful.
I wish it was already Spring 2007 so i could get the new Blackberry. I own a 7100i and am so pissed that Nextel has not had the respect to put out a software update to at least keep up with all the other Blackberry providers that continuously put out updates. You would think that after all the money many of us spent on the 7100i that Nextel could at least do that!!!!
Love your cool yet informative website!!
Keep up the good work !!
Next year I’m switching to Cingular I just want to know which version of the 8800 is Cingular getting? I have the 7100i and I want to dump the gray brick and Nextel
I hope that Cingular gets the new 8800. My contract is up just before Christmas and i’m hoping to switch to Cingular but I’m waiting for the 8800. I don’t need a camera – so this holiday i want an 8800 from Cingular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep us up to date as to which US carrier is going with the 8800.
I wonder if the screen will scratch as easily as the 8700?
are they both considered the 8800? the crimson is slimmer and shorter (though thicker due to the camera) plus the keys are different.
Hmmmm, I’m wondering if these handsets will really pack PTT or WIFI as some suggest. I don’t think that many US Carriers want people to have the ability to use WIFI for VOIP calling (Hence the Nokia E62 dropping the E61’s VOIP functionality via WIFI). If Cingular is serious about using a PTT system, a business level phone with good looks like these (and the Pearl) would be the candidates. Any reliable information on this?
I think the indigo would be for the t-mobile market considering that it specifically says UMA in its feature list.
the extra T is for Tron
The indigo has GPS but no cam. The cam model has wi-fi but no gps. That would be a tough choice as I like all those features.
when do you realisticly think verizon will have the crimson or indigo? I only ask because i am pulling my hair out trying to decide to upgrade to the 8703 and sign a 2 yr contract or a 1 yr contract or just stick it out? helpppppp!!!!!! hahahaha thanks!
